I know this post is a bit late – lots has been going on this past week, primarily with work so I get home and I’m either a)working late at home, or b) exhausted and want nothing to do with a computer. 🙂
On July 28, 2015, Makiko turned 4 years old. It’s incredible to think she is 4 — when I got her she was just around 1.5 years old. We were originally supposed to hear that day if she had cancer or not (so I was REALLLLY hoping she didn’t) but we didn’t end up hearing for 2 more days. We went home and got a lot of snuggle time in, got some good time in some of her favorite sniff areas around my complex, and just generally chilled.
The next day my coworker (Diane) and her daughter (Ashley) had PRESENTS for her. It was so cute and so special to me, and Makiko both. Diane had asked me what she was allowed to get Makiko and I told her a few things, but I wasn’t too picky because I knew Diane wouldn’t get her anything dangerous. They gave her this adorable purple stuffed animal and this really good bone, that promotes digestive health. Makiko LOVED both of them, she kept alternating, and still does. Makiko saw my coworker give me the bag and Makiko LOVES presents so she started sniffing it immediately. Then when we opened it and she saw what was inside, she started playing with it, then grabbed it and ran over to my coworker to say THANK YOU. What a polite pup! Now, when this coworker comes into the office to talk to me (which is often, she is my closest coworker), Makiko always wants to show her her bone and thank her again for it. Which is great, I don’t mind Makiko playing with this coworker because she is a good friend and respects all the boundaries/rules. She also has helped me out and always does A TON with getting Makiko and I to/from work when we weren’t able to ride the bus due to Makiko being out of it/in pain, and just in general she is very gracious with assisting us when needed. Makiko sometimes gets clingy/worried if she is sick and I’m out of the office for long. Otherwise, Makiko is really good at just staying on her bed. But one time this past week I was gone for awhile, Makiko was peeking outside my door, so another co-worker got my buddy, Diane, and Diane walked Makiko to me. 🙂 Makiko knows she can trust Diane so goes with her willingly. If Diane’s door is shut and Makiko really needs something, she goes to the next door of me (on the other side) and that counselor will come find me too. They all love Makiko and I am so grateful for this.
It was really cute how Makiko’s puppy raiser, Jenni, sent her a birthday text. I love that we still have such a great relationship.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Makiko.
