Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. I feel really bad about that but I have been ridiculously busy. I had this adventure tonight and it’s a short story, but it inspired me enough to get back on and start posting again. It may be one of those “You have to be there to understand,” scenarios but I figured I would at least give it a shot.
So one of my very best friends is also a guide dog user. Actually, her brother has a black labrador guide dog and I loved the way he looked and that was my inspiration for requesting a black guide dog when I went to GDB. So at her house is her guide dog, her brother’s guide dog, and then a pet dog. All three use the GDB leather leashes so they look almost identical. Then when I’m over, there are 4 GDB leashes. I have done this to myself at least 2 times before.. I get there and just casually put my leash down somewhere and then when it gets time to go, I am OBSESSED with finding out which one is mine and I can never decide. I usually narrow it down to 2 and then can’t figure out it.. none of them look exactly the right color.. none of them feel the same way.. so I test them out and heel Makiko walking around the house with different leashes. Yes, it’s THAT important to me. They are almost identical but there’s just something about leashes that makes me very particular. You know those things that you HAVE to have done a certain way or the right way or it will really bug you? Getting the right leash is that for me. So I remembered that our leash had a knot it in, so we found the only one with a knot in it and went with that one… but I’m still not certain that’s our leash. I’m about to order a few things from GDB so I’m thinking about ordering a backup leash.
Who knew the proper leash, when there are 3 others almost identical, would be so important?
